Is Wegovy available in Canada?

Yes — and has been since May 2024. Health Canada authorized it in November 2021, but Novo Nordisk didn’t bring it to Canadian pharmacies until a few years later. You’ll find it at most major chains now (Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall, Loblaws, Walmart pharmacies, and independents) across all provinces.

How much does Wegovy cost in Canada?

Without insurance, expect roughly $400–$540 a month. With private coverage that includes Wegovy, co-pays usually land between $0 and $80 monthly. Public drug plans in most provinces don’t cover it yet.

Coverage scenarioMonthly cost

Actual cost varies by dose strength and pharmacy. Some private and employer plans cover it with prior authorization — Cloudcure can help with the paperwork.

Wegovy dose strengths

The pen comes in 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, 1 mg, 1.7 mg, and 2.4 mg, all dosed once weekly. Each strength is a separate pen, which matters when you’re filling a prescription — call ahead to make sure your pharmacy has the one you need.

Where to get a Wegovy prescription

Three options work in Canada:

  • Local pharmacy: Most chains can dispense Wegovy or order it through Novo Nordisk’s Canadian distribution within a few business days.
  • Family doctor or specialist: They can write the prescription. Ask about coverage at the same time.
  • Cloudcure: Online assessment by a licensed Canadian provider, prescription written, free express shipping. Book a consultation →

More frequently asked questions

Are medications included in the membership cost?

No — the medication cost is separate from your monthly membership. It may be covered by your workplace health or drug insurance plan.

Does insurance cover the cost of Wegovy?

Often, yes. Many private plans cover this medication. Upload your insurance details during intake and, if covered, we’ll bill your insurer directly so you only pay the difference.

My insurer needs a “Special Authorization” form. Can you help?

Yes. We handle this paperwork frequently — our clinical team can complete the Special Authorization forms for you.

How much is shipping?

Free. We cover the cost of express delivery to your door across Canada.

How long does delivery take?

Once your plan is approved, the pharmacy usually ships within 2–3 business days, and we’ll email you a tracking number as soon as it leaves.

How does the process work?

You answer a few questions about your health, complete bloodwork, and a licensed Canadian clinician reviews your profile. If a prescription is safe and appropriate for you, they’ll create your plan.

Is this service legal and safe?

Yes. We work with licensed Canadian clinicians and accredited pharmacies, and follow all Canadian healthcare and privacy regulations. A real clinician reviews every file before any prescription is written.
