Getting Ozempic in Ottawa

Ozempic in Toronto

To get Ozempic in Ottawa, you have a few options. You can either consult your primary care physician, or speak to a Cloudcure provider.

Yes, Ozempic is available in Canada, and can be safely prescribed by licensed physicians and nurse practitioners in Ontario.

Ozempic is a once-weekly semaglutide injection. It comes in multi-dose pens in either a 2mg or 4mg size in Canada. It belongs to a class of drugs known as GLP-1 receptor agonists, which regulate blood glucose.

In Ottawa, the price of Ozempic varies depending on your health plan coverage, the pharmacy and the dosage. Pricing for your dosage is discussed during your first online consultation.

Health Canada's regulations require confirming your patient status to learn more. Please provide the Drug Identification Number (DIN) from your product packaging.

Getting Wegovy in Ottawa

Cloudcure programs also offer prescription medications like Wegovy for patients that qualify for treatment.

Wegovy in Toronto

Much like Ozempic, to get Wegovy in Ottawa, you need to consult with your physician or talk to a Cloudcure clinician who will prescribe Wegovy if it’s right for you.

To buy Wegovy in Ottawa, you can either go to a pharmacy with your prescription or have it directly delivered to your home as part of your Cloudcure program.

Wegovy mimics the hormone GLP-1 which is released by our bodies after a meal. It makes you feel fuller and less hungry. It is prescribed to individuals experiencing weight-related health conditions, in addition to a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity.

Medication cost is influenced by both the pharmacy and the prescribed dosage. With an insurance plan, the cost to the patient can be significantly reduced.

Mounjaro was developed by Eli Lily. It is now available in Canada, and the cost can vary based on the dosage, your treatment plan, and your health insurance.

Health Canada's regulations require confirming your patient status to learn more. Please provide the Drug Identification Number (DIN) from your product packaging.

Once you have a prescription, you can get Mounjaro from any licensed healthcare provider, a local pharmacy or through one of our Cloudcure programs.

Is Ozempic covered by a drug plan in Ottawa?

It depends on which plan you’re walking through the door with, and Ottawa has a more varied mix than most Ontario cities. On the public side, Ozempic sits on the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) formulary as a Limited Use product. That means it’s reimbursed only when specific criteria are met, generally tied to type 2 diabetes management after other medications have been tried. ODB is the route for seniors 65 and up, ODSP and Ontario Works recipients, and anyone enrolled through the Trillium Drug Program. Those Limited Use rules don’t stretch to weight-management use, so if that’s the reason for a prescription, ODB won’t be the way to a lower cost.

What sets Ottawa apart is how many people here are covered federally rather than provincially. The National Capital Region has the largest concentration of federal public servants in the country, and most are on the Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP). It’s a private-style plan that can cover Ozempic once a prior authorization is on file. Employer and association plans work the same way, covering it after the prior-auth paperwork clears. Our team helps put that paperwork together so it isn’t sitting on your desk for weeks.

What about OHIP+ and the Trillium Drug Program?

Two more Ontario programs are worth knowing if you don’t have a private or federal plan. OHIP+ covers Ontarians under 25 without private insurance for drugs on the formulary, so someone under 25 in Ottawa could have a formulary-listed medication covered, subject to the same Limited Use criteria. The Trillium Drug Program is Ontario’s safety net for people whose drug costs are high relative to their income. The deductible runs roughly 4% of household net income, paid in quarterly instalments, and eligible costs are covered after that. Neither program touches the Limited Use rules on Ozempic itself. What they change is who pays, and how much.

What does Ozempic cost in Ottawa without coverage?

Retail pricing across Ottawa pharmacies generally runs about $300 to $400 a month uninsured. Wegovy tends to sit higher, around $400 to $540. Mounjaro’s range is wider, roughly $300 to $700 depending on dose and pen format. Prices move by pharmacy and by month, so treat these as a planning range, not a quote.

One thing worth asking your pharmacist about directly: generic semaglutide reached the Canadian market in 2026, priced below brand. Whether a generic makes sense for your prescription depends on your situation and what the pharmacy has in stock, so that’s a conversation for your clinician or pharmacist rather than a promise we can make here.

Coverage scenarios at a glance

Scenario How it works What you’d pay
PSHCP / federal or employer plan Plan requires prior authorization on file Copay or coinsurance per your plan’s terms
ODB — Limited Use approved On ODB (65+, ODSP/OW, Trillium) and Limited Use criteria met (type 2 diabetes) ODB share of eligible cost, subject to any copay
OHIP+ (under 25, no private plan) Formulary drug, Limited Use criteria met Covered for formulary-listed use
Trillium (high drug cost vs income) Quarterly deductible (~4% of household net income) met Eligible cost after deductible
No coverage / cash pay Paying out of pocket, no plan involved Full retail — ask about generic semaglutide pricing

Ottawa is a border city — does OHIP or RAMQ apply?

Here’s a local wrinkle you won’t hit in most cities. Plenty of families in the National Capital Region live on one side of the river and work on the other, and drug coverage follows the province you’re insured in, not where the pharmacy happens to sit. If you’re OHIP-insured in Ottawa, Ontario’s rules apply (ODB, Trillium, OHIP+). If someone in your household is RAMQ-insured on the Gatineau side, Quebec’s public plan and its médicament d’exception rules apply to them instead. When a household straddles the border, that’s worth sorting out in a consult rather than guessing from a price list.

How do I get Ozempic in Ottawa without visiting a clinic in person?

Cloudcure runs the whole thing online. A licensed Ontario clinician handles the consult by video, and if a prescription is appropriate, it ships to your door with free, discreet delivery. That covers Ottawa neighbourhoods like Kanata, Barrhaven, Orléans, Nepean, the Glebe, and Vanier, plus the surrounding region, and consultations are available in English and French. No trip downtown, no waiting room.

How do I decide whether this is right for me?

That’s the clinician’s call, made with you, not something to settle from a web page. A consult goes over your health history and current medications, whether a prescription makes sense at all, and the practical side of it: how a once-weekly injection fits your week, storage (the pen stays refrigerated until first use), and which coverage path is yours. Questions about how the medication works, its effects, dosing, or side effects are clinical ones. Your clinician walks through those with you, and the Health Canada product monograph is the place to get the full detail. For the clinical and safety information, see our Ozempic medication page.
