Ozempic is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that has been approved by Health Canada for the management of Type-2 diabetes in adults. 

The medication is shipped in a multi-dose pen, which is prefilled with a clear solution containing the active ingredient, semaglutide.

How does Ozempic Work?

Ozempic is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. As an agonist, it selectively binds to the GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptors which exist in our cells. This stimulates insulin production, lowers glucagon secretions, and reduces fasting blood glucose.

Can I get an Ozempic prescription online, without joining Cloudcure or making appointments?

Unfortunately, we cannot provide an Ozempic prescription to individuals not actively enrolled in a program with Cloudcure at this time.

Am I eligible to join Cloudcure?

Generally, the following individuals may qualify for the program: Aged 18+, with a BMI of 27 to 30, and one or more metabolic conditions such as: diabetes, pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, obstructive sleep apnea or PCOS.  Alternatively, individuals with a BMI over 30 may also be eligible.

How Much Does Ozempic Cost in Canada?

While each pharmacy’s sale price may vary, weight loss medications can cost between $300 to $600 per month. The cost may be reduced by your private drug insurance plan, or any promotions, discounts or coupons offered by the manufacturer. Your cost of medication will also depend on your dosage, and will be discussed at your virtual visit.

Is Ozempic approved for weight loss in Canada?

No, Ozempic is not currently indicated by Health Canada for weight loss or obesity treatment.

What is semaglutide, and which medications consist of semaglutide?

Semaglutide is an active drug ingredient belong to a family of medications called GLP-1s. Medications such as Ozempic and Wegovy use semaglutide as an active ingredient. Semaglutide  is approved under the brand name Wegovy in Canada for medically necessary weight management.
