Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist that has been approved by Health Canada for the treatment of Type-2 diabetes, and is also prescribed for weight loss in a program that includes diet and exercise.
Mounjaro is the first and only once-a-week medicine that activates two receptors: GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) and GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1). This increases insulin production while decreasing glucagon levels, which, in turn, decreases blood glucose levels in the body. It also reduces food intake, and slows down the speed at which your stomach digests food.
Our solutions may be covered by your employee health or drug insurance plan.

Cloudcure programs combine psychology-based curriculum, effective medical treatments and ongoing support. Some plans may also offer coaching, which can help maintain long-term weight loss success. The process consists of a few simple steps:
Mounjaro may be covered by some insurance plans and employers for individuals with certain conditions. Provincial programs will vary in coverage as well. In addition, some insurance plans may require that you try other treatments before taking Mounjaro for underlying conditions.
Many insurance companies and employers may choose to provide coverage for Mounjaro. Before agreeing to cover the cost, they may ask for a confirmation or explanation from your doctor indicating its medical necessity, sometimes referred to as a pre-authorization. This approval process can take several days or weeks. For specifics regarding coverage, it's always best to contact your insurance provider directly and inquire about Mounjaro.
Cloudcure can not only help you navigate insurance coverage, but also help direct bills to your drug insurance plan.
Our price of Mounjaro is listed at $120/week. This includes all dispensing fees as well, and shipping is free. You may pay a lower amount depending on your insurance plan.
Mounjaro is approved by Health Canada. It can be safely prescribed for chronic obesity, and weight management in a program that includes diet and exercise.
Mounjaro is designed for self-administration using a pen injector. It is generally administered once a week into the subcutaneous fatty tissue under the skin. The injection process is relatively straightforward and you can find more instructions here.
Currently, Mounjaro is offered solely as an injectable pen. If needles aren't your preference, you can ask your healthcare provider about other options like Rybelsus, an oral medication containing Semaglutide. It's best to discuss these choices with your healthcare professional.
Individual patients' experiences with Mounjaro may vary. Common side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, decreased appetite, vomiting, constipation, indigestion, and/or abdominal pain. Many common side effects improve in the first few weeks as you get used to the medication. If symptoms persist or get worse, you should seek immediate medical care.
You should speak to your medical practitioner about side effects before you start treatment.
Mounjaro may be a safe, long-term treatment for some patients under the supervision of a clinician. Your clinician will also guide you on dosage adjustments, monitoring and whether it is safe for you to gradually reduce the dosage.
Health Canada regulations require us to confirm your patient status to access more information.
